چکیده

Only a few land-animal fats have been studied in detail so far with respect to their fatty acid composition and the pattern of glyceride molecules. Among those whose fatty acid compositions are available are lion and cat (Hilditch, Sime & Maddison, 1942; Gunstone & Russell, 1954), puma (Giral, 1945), tiger (Pathak & Agarwal, 1952; Gunstone, 1955), sacred baboon, Ceylon sloth bear (Hilditch et al. 1942), badger (Gupta, Hilditch & Meara, 1950), man (Cramer & Brown, 1951; James & Wheatley, 1956), horse, camel, deer, ox, sheep and pig (Hilditch, 1956), representing carnivorous, omnivorous and herbivorous types of animals. The present investigation of the component acids and glyceride structure of Indian wild-boar depot fat was undertaken to add more data to the scanty literature on herbivorous-animal fats.

Seasonal variation in chemical composition of the Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) from Karachi Coast

The chemical composition variations of the Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) from Karachi coast were investigated seasonally over the period of one year (2004-2005).  Moisture, crude protein, fat and ash contents varied from 70.11-74.41%, 16.02- 20.09%, 3.0-12%, and 0.89-1.35% respectively. The seasonal data indicated that the main fatty acids of the total lipid were C16:0, C16:1, C18:0,...

Quantitative trait loci mapping for fatty acid composition traits in perirenal and back fat using a Japanese wild boar x Large White intercross.

Here, we analysed quantitative trait loci (QTL) for fatty acid composition, one of the factors affecting fat quality, in a Japanese wild boar x Large White cross. We found 25 significant effects for 17 traits at 13 positions at the 5% genome-wise level, of which 16 effects for 12 traits at 10 positions were significant at the 1% level. QTL for saturated fatty acids (SFA) in back fat were mapped...

The fatty acid and glyceride structures of Indian buffalo milk and depot fats, and some characteristics of eastern animal fats.

This work describes the fatty acid and glyceride structures of Indian buffalo milk and depot fats. Only three other an4lyses of buffalo milk fat exist in the literature (Bhattacharya & Hilditch, 1931; Heiduschka & Cicekdagi, 1940), in only one of which was an examination made of the glyceride configuration, while no analysis of buffalo depot fat has so far been reported. The work below was ther...

Evaluation of the nutritive value of wild almond seed (Amygdalus scoparia) and its effect on performance, milk fatty acid composition and antioxidant activity in lactating goats

A total of 21 dairy goats in mid lactation were randomly assigned to three experimental diets in a completely randomized design. The diets contained 0, 3, or 6% WAS, and consisted of 45% forage and 55% concentrates. Milk fat and the ratio of milk fat to milk protein were significantly lower in goats fed diets containing 6% WAS (P≤0.01). Digestibility of crude fat was higher, and that of neutral...
